You must be at least 18 years of age to apply. If you are under the age of 18, please call the County Clerk's office for further instructions.
To start the application, you will need to enter a valid email address below, and click continue.
Fill in all information for both individuals and click submit. After completing the application, you will receive a confirmation code. This will be sent to the email address you provided. (Please allow one hour from the time it is submitted before coming into the office.)
Both Parties to the ceremony must appear in person at the Montgomery County Clerk’s Office within 14 days to complete the application process. You must come at least one day prior to your wedding day if getting married before the 14 days.
Couples must be getting married in Montgomery County within the next 60 days.
If you are converting a civil union to a marriage, you cannot use the online registration, please call our office at 217-532-9530.
Certified copies of your Marriage License (needed to change name and to document marriage) can also be purchased at that time and will be mailed to you after your marriage. Fees are $19 for 1st copy, $6 for each additional copy.
When you come to the County Clerk's Office, couples will need to bring:
1. Valid Government Issued Photo ID for each individual.
2. $75.00 fee for a marriage license (cash, money order or checks accepted).
Couples will sign the Marriage Application and the license will be issued at that time.
